Hey there, fox friends!

Well, that’s that. As of 4PM EDT today, the Fox Saliant Studios Patreon will be shut down, after nine years of service. It sucks, and I wish it could be another way, but it was going to happen eventually and it’s time to move on. I’m not particularly sad to see it go; that particular foray into crowdfunding had been fraught with stumbling blocks and general difficulty from the beginning. I never was really good at it, to be perfectly honest and made a lot of mistakes early on that hampered things pretty badly.

But it was a lot of help when push came to shove, and without your support, I don't know if I could have made it through to now, things as they are.  So it is what it is!  I’ve learned a lot and I’m looking towards the future.

I’ve gone and dusted off the old SubscribeStar in the meantime! The tiers are the same and hopefully (after some inevitable growing pains) it’ll function exactly the same as the Patreon did. There shouldn’t be any issues, but I’m sure I’ll have to sort out a thing or two with the discord bot. Regardless, it’s there if anyone wants to immediately hop over. Remember, in order to see stuff early or get to vote on things in the VIP channel, you have to connect on Discord, so be sure to do that!

I know some people can’t do SubStar due to payment processors or whatnot, so I’m also going to be opening up a fanclub through Stripe via the Support Page on Foxsaliant.com which will be up and running hopefully by the end of next month. I’ll have donation options as well as monthly certificates for anyone seeking to support that way without having to jump through the hoops of a subscription site.

Again, this is all just to help fund the creation of the stuff that I do, and every little bit here and there, regardless of how much or how often, helps me out a lot.  None of this is mandatory, and I’m happy for you all just being here. Patron or not, I’m just glad to have all of you as my fans and friends, and thank you all for being there for me.

The last nine years on Patreon have helped me out a lot, and I hope that, going into the future, we can continue to produce cool stuff together (and even cooler stuff soon enough!)

Less than two weeks now until the move and only three more stream days until I take off to get everything ready to go. The move should take three days physically, and then we’ll be staying in an AirBnB for about a week while we do location tours. Hopefully by that time, we’ll have nailed down a place and be ready to move our stuff in. We'll probably only be staying at the next place for a year, and then we’ll be able to get a longer term location, but I’m hopeful that things will work out to be better in the future overall!

Still, barring unforeseen difficulties, I’m hoping to be back to work streaming on the 18th of September, moon willing!

I managed to get the two character sheets finished, at the very least! I’ve got a pair of image sets in the works for Doc, and two TCF sequences for Salisha and Mabel in the works still, as well as the doppled DB pinup for Nori. Some of these have been on the books for a while, and I’m probably only going to manage maybe two more in the time I have left before it’s time to focus on the move.  Not as much as I’d care for, but hopefully once everything’s set up, I can throw my whole concentration into checking these off and finally defeating the list once and for all!

The rest of Chapter 6 for Various Happenings is ready and waiting to be worked on, and I have a bunch of other projects ready to go as well. I won’t be putting the info here, because that just looked like ass, but my next main thing is working out the rest of the first episode of Clara Cosmos. Then I’ll pick a side project to work on to have ready in October. I’ve got a few things to choose from, so we’ll see what’s
the most appealing. I have a comic outline for a one-shot I’ve been looking forward to, as well as an interactive thing I want to work at. There’s my Partners fanwork, of course, as well as a collab that Azure Dreamer and I are working on, so there’s a lot to do! We’ll have to see what presents itself.

But for now, that’s all I have to talk about. I’ve got yardwork to take care of this afternoon, and then next week is going to be the last push before going into full packing mode, so we’ll just have to see.

Hey peeps!

So while we didn’t finish any pieces last week, we did get most of the way through several of the larger ones!  I’m just chipping away at things and at this point we still have two full weeks of work in order to take care of the things we already have in queue (save for the brand new ones that are going to be saved for after the move.)  

I am hopeful that we’ll at least get a few of these really big pieces out of the queue before I have to stop and handle the move.  I’m forgoing my by-week this month because I’m going to be out of commission for at LEAST two weeks starting on the 3rd of September.  Hopefully I’ll be hooked back up by the 17th of September, but we’ll see what happens!

In other news, despite having contacted Patreon, they’re still annoying me with e-mails to photographically verify my identity.  The alternatives they’ve said they would present haven’t manifested yet, so I’m putting up a poll for everyone to look at (it’s just one question) to see what people want me to do if they don’t come up with something within the week.

If nothing changes, I’ll be suspending/closing the Patreon on the 27th so my current patrons don’t get charged and then see about setting up an alternative funding method.

The list hasn’t moved much since last week, though I have progressed thoroughly on several of the items on it.  I’m hoping that within the next two weeks I can pare down the pre-late line items quite a bit.  Otherwise, things are running smoothly.  I’m just stuck in an area with a bunch of large sequences and multi-variant pictures so finishing any one thing has been kind of a long process.

I’ve got two character sheets, two TCF related sequences, a transformation pic sequence, and two multi-variant pics in progress currently.  I at least want to get those done, and then anything else I get done on top of that before the move is just gravy.

We’ll see what happens.

The whole of Chapter 6 for Various Happenings that’s left is ready to be drawn now!  Me and Dicy went over it together and worked out the final draft, now I just have to sit down and get to it.  This will probably happen after the move, of course, but I’m eager to get it down on paper, so to speak!  I’m going to be working on the rest of Episode 1 for Clara as well, and then once the move is done, I’ll be settling into regular project work between trying to finish out the list once and for all.  I’ve got a collaborative piece, plus a few other things in the works that I’ll be poking at here and there, so we’ll see what happens.  Hopefully this winter will be a fun time for all!

That’s pretty much it for now.  We’ll just have to see how the Patreon thing shakes out, and keep on working both towards finishing my obligations, and getting things packed up and ready to go here.

Heya fox friends!

So a lot of big news this week! First, my roommate’s position has been officially confirmed! This means we’ll be moving out of our current place within the month, on the weekend of the 8th of September, or so. From there it’ll be a three day trip north (we’re taking our time) and then hopefully only a week or so of trying to lock down a place before we begin moving everything in. Things are still very up in the air, but we’ve got a solid plan in place and we’re already cleaning things up and packing our stuff to get it shipped out.

That’s all already been on the table and expected, so not a big deal, just have to keep at it and make sure everything stays in order. Hopefully, it’ll all go smoothly!

Second thing, and more immediately important for y’all (sit tight, this is a long one,) is that Patreon seems to be intent on rolling out a new identity verification policy. Mandated by Mastercard (stated as such by Patreon themselves in their FAQ), it uses a service which cross references via AI a photo of your government ID/driver’s license with a photo you take yourself with your phone so that they can make sure that any adult content creators on the platform are 18 years of age or older.

I feel this is an invasion of privacy in a number of ways, not the least the scraping of your phone’s metadata in anything you send them, as well as the feeding of your personal documents and image into an AI database. Not to mention giving Mastercard undue power and information, things which it has been shown to abuse in the past in regards to adult content creators whom it seems to be staunchly opposed to.

Patreon has stated that none of the information given will be used to search for law violations (and nothing that I do violates the law, regardless), but I do not trust them or Mastercard not to enable discrimination against me as a transwoman or a creator of adult content, nor do I trust them not to sell my data to other parties.

Now, I would normally not care if I was dealing with a more direct business or if they were simply asking for my license number or something like that so they could look up the information themselves; I give my driver’s license in person all the time, at the doctor’s office or bank, for example, but it’s the method that irks me. They already have my bank and tax information; they could literally just call someone and ask. Not to mention I’ve been on the platform for over nine years now, so the possibility that I could be younger than 18 is ludicrously small.

It doesn’t help that Patreon has, in the past, outright lied about its intentions as well as mandated the behavior of its users on platforms that it does not own. I also do not trust Patreon, should I not cooperate, to not take the money from y’all at the end of the month, and just lock me out of drawing from it (that’s specifically, how they’ve stated they will operate, not that they’ll ban people, but rather that people won’t be able to draw from their payouts, which is extra scummy.)

I have spoken with the Trust and Safety team, of course, and they’ve stated that they will present alternatives to this system to all Patreon creators should they not wish to provide a photographic ID. If it is as simple as transmitting online paperwork, then I might consider it, but somehow I do not think that any of the alternatives will be acceptable. We will see.

However, if no viable alternatives are presented, on Sunday, August 27th, I will be suspending the Patreon’s collections until Patreon is willing to use the information it already possesses or allow a non-invasive means of verification. If neither of those things occur, or the alternatives presented are not actually alternatives, then I will have to see about my own alternatives to using Patreon as a crowd funding source.

I do have a dormant SubscribeStar that I could dust off, if people were willing to make use of that. I also have considered a manually run fanclub, which could be fun! I’ll also be looking into other alternatives as well.

While staying with Patreon would be easier, it’s been growing more and more hostile to the kind of content that I want to produce, and my Patreon itself is already handicapped by me not being able to show my work on the site and taking it upon me to make it presentable rather than giving me tools to allow people to opt-in or filter out my work as NSFW. The layers of obfuscation that I already have to deal with are so much so that I basically have to promote myself entirely without their assistance, and Patreon simply functions as a middleman. But I can always find another middleman, if not cut them out entirely.

So as that date approaches, I’ll keep you all informed and I may create another poll to see what sort of alternatives people would be interested in.

That was a lot! I’m sorry about that, but I needed to outline the situation as best as I could so that people knew where I stood, and how this will affect things going forward. I appreciate all the support I’ve been given by all of y’all and I don’t want anyone to feel cheated or to give and for me to not be able to make use of that.

So yeah! Things are being compressed nicely! I finished two things this week (though they were smaller ones, to be fair) and I’ve got a bunch of sequences and character sheets that are in progress to work on.

I currently have nine (9) pieces paid and in queue or working, and two (2) discount bin items that are paid and working, with a further two (2) discount bin items that are planned and waiting, and two (2) items that haven’t been paid for yet.

The more recent items are in queue for after the move, but that should be well within the hopeful 90-day turnaround.

Again, I don’t expect to get everything done, but I’m hoping to get as much as possible.

On further things, projects! I know you all have been patiently waiting for any kind of updates for Various Happenings and The Adventures of Clara Cosmos, so once the pressure of the list has been relieved somewhat, I intend to go full bore in on my work.

As you can see, there’s a lot of stuff I want to get to! This is a small fraction of it, certainly, but this is the stuff I think is the most time sensitive, important, or doable at the moment.

I know a lot of it is a mystery (on purpose, I assure you) but when it makes its debut, I’m hoping it will be exciting. Still, VH and Clara are the priority right now and I want to get them moving on a regular schedule. That, of course, means getting ahead so that my whims won’t dictate a six month hiatus on things in the future.

My goal is to get three months of updates ahead (that’s 12 on each) so that I have the time to go off and work on other things when I have the desire to without interfering with the overall update schedule. Anything beyond that will be considered extra updates and posted on an off day. Hopefully that will be enough time to take care of the next step of the story for each comic and buffer me against emergencies, flights of fancy, and periods of low motivation.

We’ll see what happens, but that’s where I want to be for the future. I’m so excited to share things with you and I’m tired of not being able to, so goshdarnit, I’m going to get a move on!

Heya peeps!

Wow! Okay, some serious news this time. It looks like my roommate Dicy might actually have that job offer and we’ll soon be moving! The tentative date to start is going to be around the 24th of September, so that means we’ll be aiming to physically move in about a month, and trying to be settled in by that date.

This isn’t 100% confirmed but everything we’re looking at so far indicates that this is the direction this is heading, so for now we’re going to be working under the assumption that this is indeed the situation!

What does that mean for y’all?

Well, that means that for a few weeks there, at least, I won’t be able to work on anything because I’ll be in-between locations and most likely staying at a hotel. More directly, though, that means that my current commission work is going to be broken up between things that I’ve already accepted and things that are being put through this week, dividing them into stuff I want to get finished pre and post move.

So anything I’ve accepted before last Sunday, I will attempt to finish before the move, and anything I’ve accepted since, will be put on hold after the move. That’s not to say I’m going to get to everything before the move, but I’ll do my level best. That’s my goal.

So, let’s look and see what we’ve got.

So, I’ve closed the submissions as of this (Sunday’s) afternoon. I’ve started contacting people, and I’ll work up to four new orders from each list before I start drawing new ones from the pool after I complete a commission, working through the submissions until I run out.

Hopefully, at that point, my list will be completely empty and I’ll have caught up and be able to better balance my incoming work load. So if you’re not on the queue list (and you probably aren’t yet) don’t fret. I’ll be looking over my communications this week and getting back to people as I get responses, sending out invoices to them. It just takes some time, but most likely the full set will be reflected on next week’s update.

I got my glasses, fortunately, so hopefully my headaches in the future will be greatly reduced. It’s already improved the distances at which I can see, though it’s taking me some time to get used to the new focal lengths.

I also went ahead and closed the FSS Survey for this quarter. Thanks to everyone who participated, the next one will be a little earlier in October. What I learned from that particular survey is as follows:

• People generally keep up with things and like to interact here at FSS via the Discord with my main galleries on FA, dA and IB being close behind. This isn’t a surprise, as those are my biggest audiences. In the future, I’ll make it easier to get into the Discord, but as of right now, the only way is via asking me directly, word of mouth, or becoming a member of the Patreon.
• Most of the respondents were Patrons.
• Most of the respondents agreed that the Projects were the main draw of FSS, though getting commissions is still important for a lot of people.
• People don’t really care how they get commissions, but there’s a slight preference towards the current method versus the stream only method.
• People are generally okay with the amount of time that commissions have taken. For some it’s a bit long, but it’s not a deal breaker. Hopefully this will improve as time goes on and I catch up. Also, I REALLY need to add in a “I have never commissioned before/don’t want to commission” option.
• For most people the change to Stripe is a non-issue or considered a positive aspect, though Paypal is generally considered more convenient.
• People want more short comics and sequences! Who knew? Second place were the pin-ups, so I’ll see what I can do in those directions in the future.
• People really want more Various Happenings! Unsurprising. The Adventures of Clara Cosmos was second and The Conception Foundation was a close third. I feel bad that I forgot to put Tomomi Saves The World on the list, but… I’ll correct that next time.
• Eddie and Cass dominated the favorite characters club, with Scooter, the Matsumori Sisters, Hibachi, Hemlock and yours truly also being on the list.
• Most people don’t mind things being done when they’re done, but there was a slight edge on people who wanted shorter or more frequent updates. I am definitely working on a Various Happenings and Clara Cosmos buffer, and I want to be able to consistently, at some point, put out a comic a week for each. I’ve been writing and working on panel scripts for them, so hopefully, soon they’ll start up as a regular thing and I’ll have the time to just work on them for the foreseeable future. I also have a few other back burner ideas that I want to work on, but we’ll try and get the stuff everyone’s looking for in the pipeline as a regular thing first.
• People seem to like a bunch of different things! I didn’t get any clear answers but VH and the different sequences came up; only The Conception Foundation was mentioned as something someone specifically didn’t like, which… I get it, it’s pretty niche. Currently I have a lot of TCF commission work, so I think that ideas for that universe will sit on the back burner until I get an itch for it.

And that’s pretty much how everyone responded! I think the results were useful, if not surprising so we’ll see how that affects things going forward!

As I said, I’m definitely moving to focus on comic work more, and to try and get back in the swing of things. As for the survey, I should have some more interesting and better thought out questions next time around, but thank you to everyone who participated, and for those of you who didn’t, I look forward to seeing your responses next time around!

Lastly but not leastly, today (since it’s after midnight) is my 37th Birthday (I think), so… yanno… meh! I’m older now, but what can you do? That’s never stopping. Hey peeps!

Things are trucking along pretty well!

I’ve got most of the things on my list currently in progress and I’m chipping away at them, so a lot of them should be finished fairly soon! This week coming up is the last week of the month (and first week) so I’m taking my monthly by-week in order to make sure I’ve got all my forms and such in order, as well as post stuff from my backlog. So no streams, unless I get a bug up my ass to do it anyway!

Heya peeps!

Lots of stuff working now!  Last week was a time of MANY preliminaries and we got a bunch of stuff on the board which I’m very happy with. Now we just have to actually finish all of it. 

Still, something’s better than a blank canvas, so I’ll take those as a win and this week coming up will be all about finishing and refining what we’ve got.

This week, I’m opening up the regular commission submission form, along with the Patreon one!  Submissions will be open for 2 weeks, until August 6th at 4PM EDT.

At the end of the two weeks, I’ll close the form and select four of the submissions to follow up on! If I don’t select a submission, it’ll remain in the review queue, and I’ll review them as I get things done.

There’s a lot of stuff in the works this week! I’m happy to see things moving along and I’ll be doing my best to try and put a button on a few of these, especially the ones behind or near the late line.

So that’s gonna be the plan. Might try and get some of the smaller pieces out the door and just crunch things down further. If I get any smaller pieces, I might go ahead and knock those off as well.

As soon as I can, or get the list short enough (maybe down to 4-6) I’m going to start working on personal projects again with a bit more vigor.

I’m just bouncing around between things, so it’s hard to get a stable plan going. Still!

I have an eye exam on Tuesday, but that shouldn’t interfere too much, and if I’m lucky, I’ll have some better glasses soon which will make my life a LOT easier. XD

Still waiting on the move confirmation, but that might be a while yet, so we’ll just carry on as normal, as long as possible.

Heya peeps!

So now that we’re done with family stuff for a bit, it’s time to focus a bit more! (This week has been kind of weighing on us for a bit, but all that’s over without much event, and though I’m very tired, at least it’s done for now! Nothing big, just a visit, but you know how those can just take up all the available brainspace for a while.)

There’s going to be a move coming up soon, so we’re going to be starting to pack and save for that. The details are still up in the air at the moment, but they’re solidifying fast, so hopefully we’ll soon know how and when everything’s going to pan out, and I’ll talk about that when that time comes.

In the meantime, commissions! It’s been a while since I took new ones and I’ve made some major headway on catching up, but we need the cash so it’s time to open some slots.

This week I’m going to open the Patreon VIP submission form for commissions, and then one week later, on July 23rd at 4PM EDT, I’ll open the regular form and I’ll keep them both open for two more weeks until August 6th at 4PM EDT. I’m going to pull four slots from each, and then the rest will go into the review queue which I will pull from steadily until I run out. I’ll only be pulling one order per person from each queue at a time, so bear that in mind if you’re already on the list at the moment. Unfortunately, I’m just one ghost, and that limits my output a bit.

Hopefully this will give me a good supply of new work to pull from as we’re gearing up for the move, and along with the money from our Patrons at Patreon, will make things a lot easier going forward.

I got a few things finished, plus a piece from the Discount Bin done, and I also got the preliminaries down for a couple character sheets (Artemis and Azure) and another single piece (Doc) as well this week, so I feel pretty good about that!

I’ll do my best to work those plus the sequence for Salisha down, and see about clearing out the list even further before I take on new work.

I’m going to be trying to work on things outside of streams, as well as focusing on projects at least one day a week. Hopefully I’ll be able to take care of my sleep and general well-being a bit more moving forward, and that will enable me to maintain a higher output.

This week, I also have something silly. It’s the Q3 2023 Fox Saliant Studios Survey! I’ve been wanting to do this but I wasn’t sure what questions to ask, and eventually I just bit the bullet and put down whatever I could think of.

So things are going alright! I got my wind back last week and commissions are proceeding at pace. I’m still chasing the late line, unfortunately, but as long as I can stay on top of things financially,
I’ll be able to catch up without too much issue!

Comic stuff is still on the back burner for now, but I’m chomping at the bit for it, so maybe I can get back to it if my brainrot doesn’t dictate other things first. It just seems I never get into a place
where I can sit down and bang out comics, and yet I do all these small pieces constantly. Makes sense, I suppose, but I really want to get reset as far as my earmarked work goes so I can
start fresh and move forward.

I’m about half-way through the next batch of IDs, and then once that’s done, I’ll set to posting them all up on the relevant sites! Finished Seli’s piece as well, so I’m happy about that.

This week, I have a bunch of preliminaries that I really want to start on because I’ve been delaying them to work on already in-progress stuff first, but I’d like to get those started so I can
chip away at them as things go on. I have a discount bin piece from ElBoberto that I had to delay, too, so that’ll be fun for this week, and I also have the sequence from Salisha that I’m
working on that I hope you Conception Foundation fans will enjoy. There are a couple of those on the list, so, you won’t be left wanting for that content!

Still, I am a little short this month so in a week or so I might open up a couple slots, just to nip that in the bud. There’s also a couple Discount Bin spots open, if anyone wants anything
off that list to ease the pressure a little.  I’ve switched a few things around and added some previews to some incomplete pieces in there as well!

It’s not an emergency, but I want to push a bit, now that I’m feeling a little better, in order to shorten the list even more and pop up above that late line for good.

I’ve added the panels to the Special Thanks section on the main page of my site, so check those out, and I’ll soon be revamping the Hall of Friends, too, so look forward to that!

So my by-week was last week and honestly, it was a bit of a bust. I had planned to get a few things done and work on things a lot more than I did but I wasn’t feeling well for most of it,

and past Monday or so I was completely creatively shot and wasn’t really up to drawing all that much.

I did manage to get a little bit of site work and organizing done, but overall I was just kind of overwhelmed. So, most of the week has been me trying to relax and keep stuff in order.

I didn’t get to do a Pride pic, either, though frankly I can do that any time of year because it isn’t just a month, after all!

So, sorry about all that. Sometimes it just gets rough. But, it's time to move on, so we'll keep doing that.

My plan for this week is to do the things I’d planned to work on last week, which is finish off the background for Seli’s piece, and take care of the sequence for Salisha.

Those are going to be my main stream focuses.

Also, I’ve got two other Discount Bin pieces to knock off, so I want to get the whole thing cleaned out, ready for the next go around. Then I can hit the remaining ID cards that I have

waiting and the prelims for the pieces behind the late line.

That’s my plan currently, we’ll see how it stands up to action.

In other news, I did get the little plaques done for the special thanks to our Fanclub Foxes, and I’ll start populating those onto the front page and into the Hall of Friends soon!

I just have to wait for Patreon to process everything (it’s going really slowly this month for some reason), and then I’ll add them up there as soon as it completes.

Heya fox friends! Sorry for the lack of update last week, I had a very busy weekend and didn't really have time for it!

Things are trucking along well, though! Commissions are proceeding at pace and while next month might require a few things from the discount bin or a few open slots, it won't be that much so I'll be able to get right back on working the list down!

This upcoming week is the last week of the month, so it'll be a by-week for assorted work and administrative stuff. I won't be streaming, but I do have things I want to work on.

Art wise, I'm almost done with Seli's piece, but I have to make some changes to the background, which shouldn't be too much. I also really want to tackle the pic series for Salisha, so I'll see about taking care of that this week. Here's hoping!

Also, the ID cards for Milkie are done! I went and got those knocked out on Monday. Hopefully, the week after this one will just be a load of preliminaries to start the new quarter!

Not a lot of progress in the personal project stuff as far as comics go.  There has been some Conception Foundation quick and dirty works I've done as a release valve, of course, but nothing substantial as far as my comics work goes.  (You can find those specifically at my Eka's Portal gallery!)  I'm still hoping to hit some major progress once I catch up to my commission list, which is slowly but surely occurring!  I'm very happy about that, and people have been really super encouraging about wanting to get me back on the comics.  It means a lot to me!  I'm hoping this quarter coming up will be the one!
